B.K.S. Iyengar (Guruji) is a living yoga master from Pune, India, who has taught yoga in a unique way to all his students for many decades. He began teaching in his teens and is now in his nintieth decade of life. He finds the meaning of the ancient yoga sutras by his practical search and regular practice of yoga. He invented many props, including belts, blankets, special benches, ordinary chairs, and blocks to enable everyone to experience classic yoga poses, or asanas. His style of teaching yoga is followed internationally by teachers trained by him, and has led to his method of teaching Hatha yoga being called "Iyengar Yoga".

His many books, including the renowned Light on Yoga, articles, CDs and DVDs have influenced teachers of yoga and yoga practitioners all over the world. His daughter, Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar, and son, Prashant Iyengar, are renowned teachers in their own right, and conduct classes at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.
